Go figure?

28/03/06

it's been awhile since i really really post...

right now this new blog which i created will be used more for discussions and topics which are serious matters to talk about...

i have to mature.. no more being childish and stupid... no nonsense... grow up...

on a sat afternoon after service... walking towards the mrt we saw a booth with a dude who is wheelchair bound.. he was approaching people to buy those charity tickets... Kim asked me... are those charity people just playing with our feelings to just get us to pity and sympathise to buy from them those draw tickets? (draw tickets as in lottery that months later there'll be a draw blah blah with prizes etc) and at the end of the day not everything we donate is gone into the funds for them...

her question to me made me think and it reminded me of something... its... i wanted to do a post about this during the time of NKF when everything was exposed...

my reply was i don't think they are playing with our feelings and that yes not everything we donate go into the funds but think about it... who would do something out of voluntary and not earn any money in helping charity for the rest of his life... how will he/she survive? or another way who will be willing to fork out his/her time to help whereby you get no incentives? will you?

this reminded me of a time when i was in my sec sch.. i had a job selling charity tickets too... some middle aged working career woman, i approached her asked her if she could purchase 1 which cost $2... she asked me if i was earning anything out of it... i told her yea i am... i earned like $0.40 per ticket sold... i was being frank about everything... the moment she heard yea i am... she brushed me off and walked off just like that... (i wonder how she felt when she heard NKF and does she remember brushing me off when i did tell her the truth) i think $1 out of $2 goes to the organisation to help the need or was if $0.50...

as an office worker, my guess is that she would be earning at least 2k a month... all i am asking was for a donation of $2 and i tell you the truth unlike others who lied saying no... at the end of the day a fraction still goes to the organisation... if you do not donate at all... nothing is put to help the organisation and have you pledged donations to other organisations? if you did i do not mind you brushing me off like that but can you confirm that those organisations do not pocket the money too?

years down the road.. NKF got exposed... i bet everyone from that time hearing that people like us earn money per ticket sold would shun away from us like a plague and would donate to NKF but then NKF got exposed how did everyone feel... hmm... i feel like i've been wronged? they earned millions... a donation of $5 plus the surcharge per call is much more than a miserable $2...

my question i have is..

1)will you give up your job being paid at least $2k per month or participate heavily in voluntary work to raise funds with zero incentives?
2)will you purchase a charity ticket with no lottery draws? donate money just like that?

another thing is... when you did community service in secondary school.. whatever you did was it really out of heart or for the sake of doing or for community service hours? do not lie to yourself but just be frank... i know many people just did not give a damn... so is it wrong to earn a little incentive for work? if they earn too much then that is seriously bad but just a little to get helpers would it be ok?

my opinion is that at the end of the day if people do earn abit out of raising funds for organisations do not be so petty about it will you be willing to do what they do for free?

please feel free to comment on anything...

in fact, i do agree wif u... not many ppl will really do things for free... this includes charity... so sometimes, it's ok if ppl do earn a little out of charity, but the bottom line lies tat; at least majority like more than 50% and above of the funds or money tat each person donates do goes to the needy ppl. haha... this are juz my pt of views ba..

anyway, congrats tat u managed to configure the comments thingy to anonymous... =p tc!

I agree that ppl nowadays dont bother abt things n they care only abt wat benefits them..there are v.few ppl who do things willingly..n i feel sad for those who dont have a willing heart..cause they miss out the valuable things in life..well,it all boils down to how much society is willing to do things w/o expecting things..it's a selfish world..

ban, who i am isnt important.
however, out of boredom i stumbled upon your blog and your friendster. I noticed that the phrases such as "become mature" and "wake up" . I read through this post and yes you do have a nice point.

this may sounds cliche, however nonetheless reality.

The world is a shit hole and humans are selfish beings. we were made and nutured into this state. nothing can change a human. yes once in a while there are kind souls like you who come around and try to turn the world around. im glad. really, for people like yourself, who are so willing to pull away from their selfish mindsets and help others. However, it should be in your best interest (waking up) to not let this objective, mission in life, aim to wander off to far, for this would mean that youve wandered too far from reality, embrace it. i know this doesnt have much to do with post, truly im sorry. However, my advice is that to truly mature? do embrace reality

you may not agree with me, and disagree with my views. detest my opinions if you must, but deep down you know that im making some sense.i am but an anonymous person, you can choose to pay no attention to me.

i truly hope that you find what youre looking for in life. all the best.

regards
YC

to all.. thank you for all your comments.. its true that this world is more than a shit hole but nonetheless what we can do we should do and other than that if we can all get rich and help the world lets do it and influence it.. ah ha... this might be dumb but its a dream no more than that...

well... sometimes after realising how shit this world is I just feel like following how this world works and thus we blend in together with it... doesn't anybody feel this way?

by the way... YC = yuet chong?

its me again, no im not yuet chong,

I know this is the total opposite of any model answer known to man; to say that following the crowd is actually something good for you. Going against the world, yes, its a start, but trust me you wont get anywhere. that whole me against the world crap, is just a scam to make people feel better. im not here to shoot down how you feel, its good that you want to make a difference. My point is this, why not change the world from inside rather than hope that they would follow you by setting a good example? then the whole cycle would happen all over again. someone else out there who think what you think isnt right would go against you. its a never ending cycle. things come and things go. im saying dont get caught with the things that go. all the best

hmm.. who you man?

it is indeed a complete opposite of the model answer we know of but yes it is indeed a good answer. No point going against the whole world alone at times.

now how do you go about changing the whole world from the inside? explain this part. no matter how you want to change the world from the inside it depends on the people around you too.

i was thinking of rather like why not help the needy who needs help, help the poor who needs help and start by passing on the goodness so that in time people might start to change. yeap...
